The HYSouthMarmara Workshop featured presentations from leading hydrogen valley initiatives in Europe, including HEAVENN and the Northern German Living Lab (NRL) - Norddeutsches Reallabor, where experts shared insights and experiences via online connections. Representatives from candidate hydrogen valley regions in Morocco and Italy also contributed perspectives on replication models, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration. Tatiana Block provided an overview of HEAVENN, Europe's first hydrogen valley, while Holger Wiertzema introduced Norddeutsches Reallabor, a major collaboration in Northern Germany. Assoc. Prof. Marco Pellegrini highlighted the University of Bologna’s contributions to Italy’s hydrogen ecosystem, and Prof. Hicham Benyoucef shared insights into the hydrogen initiatives led by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco. These presentations underscored the importance of international cooperation in advancing hydrogen technologies and building a sustainable energy future.

Four panels with presentations and discussions delved into the progress, challenges, and opportunities surrounding green hydrogen production, distribution, and utilization, as well as exploring the future of hydrogen.

·       Panel 1: Supplier/Distributor/Off-takers in HYSouthMarmara Consortium Members: Shared producer, consumer, and distributor perspectives on the hydrogen value chain.

·       Panel 2: South Marmara Hydrogen Shore Platform: Discussed the platform's vision and goals, projects, and activities on decarbonized ports, greener agriculture, and sustainable steel and cement production.

·       Panel 3: Hydrogen for Future: How green hydrogen offers a promising solution, presenting ideas for scientific development, implementation, and policy for a decarbonized future.

·       Panel 4: Potential Hydrogen Valleys in Turkey: Explored Turkey's potential regions and development strategies for the widespread adoption of green hydrogen.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the speakers for their outstanding support in sharing valuable insights and contributing to the collective vision for a greener and more sustainable future.
