The HYSouthMarmara Hydrogen Valley Project aims to collaborate with regional stakeholders, focusing on the development of local green hydrogen and offshore wind energy. This effort is aimed at increasing international collaborations and progress as we move forward.
Significant progress was made during visits to the OTD Energy 2023 Fair in Norway and the Egersund Energy Hub. At the OTD Energy Fair, one-o-one discussions were held with key organizations in the green hydrogen ecosystem, and ongoing activities and projects in the Southern Marmara region were discussed. A brief overview was provided about Türkiye's National Energy Plan, which includes the installation of 5 GW offshore wind and 5 GW electrolysis capacity by 2035. Additionally, Norway's plans for installing 30 GW of offshore wind by 2040 have learnt.
During the visit to the Egersund Energy Hub, officials from the South Marmara Development Agency, Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED), and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University visited the Egersund Training Center. Discussions focused on collaboration in wind energy development, education, and renewable energy technologies, as well as potential collaborations between Türkiye and Norway in green hydrogen technologies and offshore wind experiences. Collaborative projects such as ROBINSON - H2020 were also reviewed. These projects aim to develop smart energy management systems for carbon-free islands while offering potential applications in the Southern Marmara region!
